My Favorite Things This Week

1. Making Lists. This book is amazing, and I love how inspirational making lists can be. The book also includes a challenge at the end of every list so you can take one tiny step towards achieving the things on your list.
2. Rowan magazine. Photo via Ravelry. I can't stop going through previous issues and planning which patterns to knit.
3. Skin Care. I've decided that I need to start taking better care of my skin, and my mom got me this lotion for Christmas. It smells wonderful and makes my skin feel fantastic.
4. French Girl Hair. And French Girl style. It definitely inspires me to simplify my beauty routine. Clémence Poésy. Image via Vogue.
5. Jenny Lewis. Jenny is one of my favorite people all the time though. How cute was she on A Very Bill Murray Christmas? Image via Jenny Lewis' Instagram and is drawn by Sina Grace for the 10th anniversary of Lewis' first solo album.

Snow Day

Snow is a rare event in Portland, and it's even rarer that there would be so much snow that my classes are cancelled, which happened today.

This is what it looked like early on, before it really started coming down

Zooey is a little confused by what snow is, but she really likes to eat it.

And here's what it looked like a couple hours ago:

This probably looks silly to everyone on the eastern half of the United States who has feet of snow, but it was enough to scare me out of driving.

Since I'm stuck indoors, I thought I would share some of my little trinkets that I have collected:

I love donuts lately. I even looked at my "suggested boards" on pinterest, and mine had at least two donut boards. I have a problem.

The copper mugs and bar accessories were a very lovely engagement gift from Andrew's cousin. I have been coveting copper mugs for a long time, so I was very excited when we received them in the mail.

I'm Engaged.

Christmas is my favorite holiday and I can't believe I didn't share any posts during that time. Everything just got so busy, and now that it's January, everything is slowing down and I can get back to a routine.
Except...
The most wonderful thing happened on Christmas day, my boyfriend Andrew proposed!
He put the ring in the advent Calendar for the 25th day, with a little note.

This is just such a happy time for us.
We decided on August 2015 to give us plenty of time to plan. My wedding board on Pinterest is already filling up!

Meet Zooey!

Zooey is my puppy, and she needs a formal introduction.

We got her from the humane society in January, when she was just 2 months old. These pictures are from this summer.  She's the sweetest dog ever.

Halloween!

Need a (very) last-minute costume idea?
My costume lacked the normal planning that I usually do, I normally hand-sew or otherwise hand-make my costumes, but this year, I didn't think much about it. I chose instead to put something together with just hair and makeup, and my closet. If this is you, give one of my ideas a try! I decided on a 1920's style costume, I know this is a very popular costume because of the new Great Gatsby movie. I practiced makeup and soft fingerwaves the other day, forgive the instagram photos.

I followed a youtube tutorial for the hair, just search 1920's hair, there are so many good ones.

My sister Chelsea did the most adorable diy costume! I just had to share. She was a sweet little deer. She told me she didn't really follow a tutorial, just eyeballed it from photos of others' fawn makeup, she's amazing.

Have fun tonight, Happy Halloween!

Work

I've been doing a lot of thinking today as well as a lot of working. I have been posting new listings for my Etsy, frostandfawn.etsy.com, and I'm definitely starting to realize, if I want my daily job to be making and selling my handmades, it's going to be very difficult. It's going to take hard work and a lot of persistence.
I've also been thinking a lot about what I want to sell and what kind of image I want to project. It's not that I didn't think about any of this before, but I definitely want to become more serious about this and put myself out there more.
I do also know that I am just starting out and it's unrealistic to think my shop will be successful overnight. I just have to keep working, little by little, and not compare myself to established shops and bloggers who have been doing this for years.
With that said, what is a blog post without pictures? I did add a brand new item to my shop, I also made an infinity scarf, which is not for sale.
